INDIANOLA – BP’s Fueling Communities Program recently donated $6,500 to an Indianola organization. The Indianola Youth Athletic Association was nominated by Gresham Petroleum Company and Gresham Service Station to receive a grant through BP’s Fueling Communities Program.

The Fueling Communities Program provides grants to local organizations that are nominated by BP Branded Marketers to support the communities. This program allows Gresham Petroleum and Gresham Service Station to support organizations that focus on health, education, youth, food and housing to spread charity among neighborhoods in need.

Alan Hargett from the Indianola Youth Athletic Association stated, “We are so grateful to Gresham Petroleum for nominating us to receive this grant. It will help us provide the needed maintenance for our fields so our baseball and soccer teams can continue to play on a state of the art facility. We appreciate BP’s commitment to helping our community, and we encourage everyone in the community to visit our facilities this spring to see our kids in action.”

The Indianola Youth Athletic Association opened Chism Park in 2009 and the five baseball field facility has already hosted numerous tournaments including last year’s 12-year-old Dixie Youth North State Regional Tournament.

Walton Gresham, President of Gresham Petroleum, was instrumental in selecting the Athletic Association for the grant. “We wanted to nominate an organization that encouraged children to play sports, and we felt that the Indianola Youth Athletic Association was a great candidate. I will enjoy watching my own grandchildren enjoy this facility, and I know this money will be invested to keep Chism Park as one of the best youth sports facilities in the state.”
