Moss Point man accused of pulling gun on dog’s doc

A 59-year-old Moss Point man allegedly pulled a gun on his veterinarian because he felt he had to wait too long to pick up his dog, Police Chief Keith Davis said.

Stephen Martinez remained jailed Sunday on an aggravated assault charge, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Martinez allegedly got angry with the staff of Animal Clinic in Escatawpa on Thursday, Davis told The Mississippi Press on Saturday.

“He felt he was waiting longer than other customers,” Davis said.

When Martinez became belligerent, two veterinarians escorted him outside, Davis said.

Davis said, “Martinez pulled a weapon, pointed it at one of the veterinarians and pulled the trigger; according to the victim. However, the weapon did not fire.”

Martinez was arrested later Thursday at his home, Davis said. Martinez’ bond was set at $5,000.

He says his “language was unacceptable” and that as a team, “we have put this behind us and are ready to finish the season strong.”
