Lil’ Duval brings laughter to the Capitol City

Downtown Jackson has never been more alive than in the last couple of months and this past Saturday was no different.

Chill Will Productions brought  comedic relief with Lil Duval and friends to the Thalia Mara Hall. Before a nice crowd, comedians from Atlanta and local comedians hit the stage to give ticket holders a laughing good time.

The show’s headliner Lil Duval said coming off the stage he had a blast giving the audience what they came for.

“I love the Jackson crowd,” said Jacksonville native Roland Powell, who got his name Duval after the Florida County he grew up in. “Jackson shows a lot of love.”

Lil Duval credits a lot his success to the ‘new wave,’ the Internet.

“I think people are more on the Internet than they are on TV,” said Lil Duval. “So you have to roll with what’s going on if you want to keep up. Roll with it or get rolled over.”

And judging from his twitter page with over 214,000 followers, Lil Duval is rolling in the right direction.

“It was always natural for me to entertain and I was always funny, so I just went with it,” said Lil Duval.”

Show promoters Chill Will Productions said bringing the comedy show to Jackson was the ideal vehicle to give people something to do.

“Me and my other partner in crime, the other Chill (William ‘Chill 2’ Carter), try to bring entertainment to the city that Memphis, Dallas, New Orleans and other cities have,” said Willie ‘Chill 1’ Williams. “We try to let people know that we can do the same things they do in other big cities. We’re just trying to get people to support us.”

And according to Williams, more comedy events are being planned for this area.

“We have a lot of things that we haven’t announced just yet,” said Williams. “But please believe when we release it, everyone will be happy about it.”

Lil Duval said the fans should look out for his upcoming projects and continue to support his endeavors.

“I will be in Stomp the Yard II coming out in the fall and I have a reality show in the works,” said Lil Duval.

“The pilot for that should be coming out soon, its called ‘Hood State of the Union with Charlamagne tha God,’” said Lil Duval.

“I’m just doing what I love to do and making people laugh in the process.”
