A Jackson nightclub may have gotten some positive news after learning their club while currently closed could be reopened. Attorneys for the city of Jackson have reached an agreement with a Birdland Restaurant and Lounge after being closed following a shooting death.

Last month a 27-year-old Canton woman was killed in the club. The city sought in court to have the club closed permanently. But under an agreement announced Wednesday, it will stay closed for 30 days while the club conducts a security assessment at its own expense, hires two security officers, secures liability insurance and takes steps to ensure people under the age of 21 will not be allowed to enter the club.

Attorneys will then meet back in court in 30 days to assess whether Birdland has complied with the agreement. After that, Chancery Judge Denise Owens could allow the club to reopen.
