The incident occured shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Bailey Avenue and Peter Street.
According to witnesses a black 2001 Chevy Camaro was traveling north on Bailey Avenue approaching Peter Street when it collided with a Chevy Impala traveling south bound on Bailey Avenue attempting to turn east onto Peter Street.
The driver of the black camaro, thirty year old Jason Lee Burton, died shortly after being transported to UMC.
Adrian McMurtry, age and address unavailable, was a passenger in the Camaro. McMurtry was transported to UMC where he was treated for a broken hip.
The driver of the Chevy Impala, eighty-five year old Mattie Johnson,was treated at UMC for unspecified injuries.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. No citations have been issued. No arrest.
