(JACKSON, Miss.) – Jackson State University’s Center of Excellence for
Natural Disasters, Coastal Infrastructure and Emergency Management will hold
an Emergency Management Training and Interoperability Demonstration at 9
a.m. May 28 at the Mississippi e-Center @JSU, 1230 Raymond Road in Jackson,
Miss.
The U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Research, Development and
Engineering Center’s Software Engineering Directorate (AMRDEC/SED) and
Radiance Technologies, Inc., will co-host the event.
The demonstration will highlight simulation and communication
technologies to improve training and preparedness of Emergency Operations
Centers (EOCs).
The training will integrate local EOC tools and personnel from
Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee into a Web-enabled environment to
respond to a simulated tornado disaster scenario.
Observers will hear from first responders via
video-teleconference about the need for more frequent and comprehensive
training and how existing technologies can address training requirements.
Demonstrations by the Centers of Defense Integrated Data and
National Center for Biodefense Communications on Disaster Response
Intelligent System (DRIS) and Trimble GPS, ArcGIS, Pictometry & Electronic
Field Study will be available following the training.
