Special to The Mississippi Link

Councilman Marshand Crisler has been selected by the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) to be a delegate to El Salvador and Nicaragua in an exchange program for sharing of ideas among political elected officials.

Councilman Crisler is being provided a unique opportunity to meet with political officials at the national, state and local levels of all branches of government, as well as business leaders and members of the civic community.

Delegations are comprised of seven to ten young political leaders, ages 25 to 40, who are selected based on their current political leadership roles and potential for future achievement.

Councilman Crisler was nominated for this program by Mississippi State Representa-tive Dirk Dedeaux.

During their programs, delegates interact with an array of national, regional and local government officials as well as policy, corporate and community leaders to debate ideas and issues and share experiences.

The goal of each ACYPL exchange is to strengthen the participant’s leadership and public diplomacy skills while creating a climate of mutual understanding and trust and a platform for future relationships.

The program is made possible in part through a generous grant from the U.S. Department of State. ACYPL will cover the international airfare, lodging, and food.
