Two Ole Miss students killed in head-on collision

Two University of Mississippi students, a brother and sister, were killed Saturday morning in a car accident near the intersection of U.S. Highway 278 and State Highway 7 in Oxford.

The car carrying Katherine Sarah Wheat, a communication science and disorders major, and her brother William John Wheat, an accountancy major, was reportedly traveling westbound when it was hit by another vehicle.

Campaigning was challenging and winning the election was rewarding, but making history in the process is mind-boggling for Courtney Roxanne Pearson, who recently became the University of Mississippi’s first African-American homecoming queen.

The 21-year-old senior English secondary education major from Memphis won the title in a run-off during annual campus personality elections.
