2 workers killed after falling from cell phone tower

Federal and local investigators are trying to determine the cause of an accident in which two workers fell to their deaths from a cellphone tower in Copiah County.

The accident happened Tuesday afternoon at a tower on Mississippi Highway 27 north of Highway 28 in Georgetown

The Copiah County coroner says the men were climbing up the 300-foot tower and were about halfway up when they fell.

Randle Drane, of the Copiah County Emergency Management Agency, said the men worked for a Louisiana company.

Officials say body is that of missing kayaker

The body found Friday in the Mississippi Sound is that of a kayaker who had been missing for 10 days.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove says an autopsy Saturday confirmed the body as that of 23-year-old Nick Rainer, who went missing Feb. 27 while kayaking with his father.

The state Marine Patrol found the body more than four miles south of Biloxi. The body had been spotted by a charter boat fisherman.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart tells The Clarion-Ledger that Stacey Andrew Washington died Wednesday night about 8:30 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center from multiple blunt force injuries associated with the fall.
