Vicksburg toddler run over and killed by aunt

A 2-year-old girl died Sunday after being hit by a car at a family gathering.

Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey told the Vicksburg Post that Carmyia Buck was pronounced dead of abdominal trauma at River Region Medical Center.

Huskey says no autopsy has been ordered.

Police Chief Walter Armstrong says the child was struck by a car driven by her aunt, 27-year-old Ebonay Brown, just before 7 p.m. […]

MVSU football player killed in accident, 3 others injured

A Mississippi Valley State football player was killed late Thursday night and three of his fellow athletes injured in a single vehicle accident in Leflore County.

Nineteen-year-old Kevin Monzon of Crystal Springs was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Ben Williams of the highway patrol. Monzon was reportedly driving on U.S. Highway 82 just east of Itta Bena around 8 p.m. April 25, when he ran off the roadway and rolled over.

2 killed in Madison County wreck

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson Cpl. Odis Easterling confirmed two people were killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Madison County Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. at Highway 51 and Highway 17 south of Pickens.

According to the highway patrol a white Chevrolet pickup traveling north on Highway 51 collided head on with a beige Chevrolet pickup attempting to turn onto Highway 17 from southbound Highway 51. […]

50 state troopers head to New Jersey to help recovery efforts

Fifty Mississippi State Troopers are headed to New Jersey Sunday night to assist in recovery efforts from Hurricane Sandy, following a request for additional manpower from that state’s governor, Chris Christie, WLBT reported.
