MDOC unveils new dialysis unit at Pearl correctional facility

A new kidney dialysis unit has been unveiled at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF) in Pearl.
 
After months of renovation, the Hemodialysis unit, which was once located in a trailer at the prison, has been moved to a more medically conducive environment at the facility. Two prison guards arrested on contraband charged

Two correctional officers have been arrested on felony possession charges at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility after contraband items were found during a random check of vehicles on prison grounds.  

“Regardless if you are staff or civilians, we will not tolerate drugs or alcohol on the grounds of any Mississippi Department of Corrections’ facility,” Commissioner Christopher Epps said. “Unfortunately, some employees are not abiding by this zero tolerance, and those employees should not reflect on the MDOC staff as a whole. Most of our employees are men and women who steadfastly carry out their duties with the upmost integrity every day and might not ever get the notoriety they deserve.”   […]

Ridgeland teen arrested for bringing drugs into prison

A Ridgeland teenager was arrested earlier this month at the Rankin County prison for allegedly having marijuana while attempting to visit his sister.

Robert Meeks, 17, was arrested Saturday, May 7 at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF) and charged with possession of marijuana.  Officers initially detained him for having tobacco after the contraband fell out of his walking shorts as he was about to enter the visitation center. 

A further examination revealed 54 grams of marijuana hidden in the contraband, investigators said.  […]
