Entergy Donates $50k to Washington County

On June 11, Entergy celebrated 90 years in business with a luncheon held in Greenville, one of the Mississippi communities where Entergy got its start. At the event, Entergy Mississippi President Haley Fisackerly saluted outgoing board member Billy Percy for his 14 years of service on the Entergy board.

Fisackerly mentioned to the audience that Percy’s father had also served on the board when the company was known as Mississippi Power & Light and that out of 90 years in business, the Percys had collectively served 42 years on the board.

Bullet hits school bus, 1 student in Panola Co.

Panola County authorities said a bullet that struck a Panola County school bus, grazing a student in the back, may have been a hunting accident.

District Attorney John Champion said a 10-year-old male student was transported by helicopter on Jan. 25 to Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis with non-life-threatening injuries.

Champion said the bullet went through a side window of the South Panola bus, which was carrying about 15 students when the incident occurred. Surveillance video onboard the bus captured the incident.

Gluckstadt man dead after house fire

Madison County officials say a 44-year-old man has died in a fire at his Gluckstadt home.

Emergency Management Director Butch Hammack says Billy Murphy was trapped by flames in the house fire that started at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. Another man, whose name was not available, escaped without injury. […]
