Debra Gibbs and Synarus Green face off today in a runoff election for the State House of Representatives District 72 seat.
Of the four individuals seeking the seat, they were the top vote getters in a special election Aug. 23. when Gibbs led the race with 701 votes, just five votes more than Green, who had 696.
The district covers parts of Hinds and Madison counties, including parts of Ridgeland and area around the Ross Barnett Reservoir and Natchez Trace Parkway.
Green, legislative/congressional liaison for the city of Jackson, has 20 years of experience working with government.
Gibbs is a Jackson attorney who has focused her campaign on economic development, better health care and improving education rates.
