BAY ST. LOUIS, Mississippi (AP) — A Bay St. Louis man has been charged with murder in the shooting deaths of a former University of Southern Mississippi dance team captain and her boyfriend.

The Sun Herald reports that 27-year-old Myrick Laneaux made his initial court appearance Wednesday. Judge Stephen Maggio ordered Laneaux held on $1 million bond for each of two murder counts he faces.

Kristina Quintini a 28-year-old former captain of the Southern Miss Dixie Darlings dance team, and her 29-year-old boyfriend, Norris Demetrius Mueller, were found dead Saturday night. The couple’s 6-month-old daughter, Mia, was shot in her shoulder but is recovering from the wound.

Laneaux had been charged Sunday with stealing a car belonging to Quintini’s mother.

Laneaux’s attorney, Damian Holcomb, said he will be speaking with his client in the coming weeks to prepare for a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 21.

Autopsies showed Quintini died of multiple gunshot wounds, while Mueller died of a single gunshot to his head.

Bay St. Louis Police Chief Mike DeNardo said investigators were still waiting on forensic evidence and expect to bring more charges in the case.
