The Jackson Medical Mall Foundation will host its first JumpStart: The Back to School Jam  on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 10:00am – 3:00pm.  The event will feature national recording artist, actor and entertainer, Jacob Latimore.   A variety of activities are scheduled for that day to include:  a celebrity meet and greet, school supply giveaway, free health screenings, and a visual art contest and talent showcase in which students can compete for cash prizes.   In addition, the Hinds County Health Department is scheduled to hold a special clinic during JumpStart, for school-age children needing immunizations.

“We want to create opportunities for meaningful youth, community, and civic engagement at the Jackson Medical Mall that would tie together all facets of the Foundation’s mission,” says Executive Director, Primus Wheeler, Jr.  “While Jumpstart is the Foundation’s first back to school jam for the arts, we hope that this is the launch of an annual event that caters to youth and young people throughout the state of MS.”

This event is sponsored by Magnolia Health Plan, United Health Care, Metro Area Community Empowerment (MACE), Mississippi EyeCare Associates, The Difference Group LLC, Mississippi Paralysis Association (MPA), Comcast and Outfront Magazine. There is no cover charge for this event.  Registration can be completed at Eventbrite  by clicking here.  For more details, contact Fallon Brewster at (601) 982-8467 ext.13unnamed
