Sexual battery suspect back in jail after mistaken release

Mississippi Debtors PrisonJACKSON, Miss. (AP) – A suspect in a 2014 rape, who was mistakenly released from custody in December, is back behind bars.

The Clarion-Ledger reports (http://on.thec-l.com/1Wf06mg ) Edward Samuel was arrested Monday by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

Samuel, his brother Marquise Samuel and Ja’Lon Jones were charged in connection to the rape of a woman at Shell Gas Station and Convenience Store on Daniel Lake Boulevard in Jackson on July 18, 2014. Marquise Samuel is charged with rape, armed robbery and contempt of court. Jones is charged with accessory after the fact.

Samuel was released in error by the previous Hinds County Sheriff’s Administration when his rape charge was dropped. Samuel was still charged with sexual battery charge and accessory after the fact.
