On April 17, Clark Atlanta University alumni gathered for the official charter ceremony for CAUAA Mississippi Chapter at Eudora Welty Library in Jackson.

It was an exciting occasion for alums to get together and be able to make this happen. National Vice President Corey Echols traveled to Mississippi to help charter the new statewide chapter.

Clark Atlanta University is a great institution for higher learning and has had some notable alumni such as activist Ralph Abernathy, actor Emmanuel Lewis, Tony Award winning Broadway and film director Kenny Leon and many more. Clark Atlanta University’s famous motto is “I’ll Find a Way or Make One,” and that is what these alums did to get a statewide chapter charter.

Clark Atlanta University is a private, historically black university in Atlanta. It was formed in 1988 with the consolidation of Clark College (founded in 1869) and Atlanta University (founded in 1865).

Clark Atlanta University is a member of the United Negro College Fund and is the largest institution in the Atlanta University Center Consortium. Clark Atlanta University was formed by the consolidation of Atlanta University, which offered only graduate degrees, and Clark College, a four-year undergraduate institution oriented towards the liberal arts.
