BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – LSU guard Antonio Blakeney is returning for his sophomore season. Blakeney, in a news release yesterday, said he won’t submit his name for information on the upcoming NBA Draft. The deadline to submit official paperwork is Monday.

RUSTON, La. (AP) – New Louisiana Tech coach Brooke Stoehr says the women’s basketball program is ready to move forward following the surprising resignation of Tyler Summitt. Stoehr replaces Summitt, who resigned on April 7 after acknowledging he had an inappropriate relationship, but no other details.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Prince Fielder hit a towering home run, Ian Desmond had his first two-hit game with Texas and the Rangers beat the Houston Astros 7-5 last night in the first meeting of 2016 between the AL West playoff teams from last season. Jose Altuve and George Springer homered for the Astros, going back-to-back in the seventh to get within 6-4.

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) – Arkansas State basketball coach Grant McCasland has announced the signing of a junior college point guard. McCasland said yesterday that 6-foot, 160-pound Rashad Lindsey of Moberly Area Community College in Missouri has signed with ASU. Lindsey averaged 12.6 points, 3.9 assists and 3.3 rebounds at Moberly last season.
