State Democratic precinct caucuses set for Feb. 13

Mississippi Democrats are getting ready for a caucus and primary of their own as the nation focuses on the Iowa Caucus and the New Hampshire Primary.

At 10 a.m. Feb. 13, Democrats will gather at their county polling places in the state for their quadrennial Democratic Precinct Caucus meetings. At the precinct caucus, participants will elect Democratic leaders to represent the precinct at the county Democratic convention on March 12, discuss and propose platform ideas on public policy issues to be considered for inclusion in the 2016 Democratic Platform and organize support for the Democratic Party and Democratic candidates in the precinct.

All interested Democrats are encouraged to attend and participate in their Democratic Precinct Caucus.

The Democratic Party will hold its Presidential Preference Primary election March 8. Rickey Cole is chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party.
