JACKSON, Mississippi (AP) — Six Walmart stores in Mississippi are closing as part of the company’s plan to shutter 269 stores worldwide.
More than 100 of the closures will affect the smallest format stores, Walmart Express, which has been in the pilot stage since 2011. The Mississippi stores affected are in Belmont, Mantachie, Sardis, Walnut, Dermas and Nettleton.
They will be closed to the public beginning Jan. 28.
Walmart is also closing 23 neighborhood markets, 12 Supercenters, seven stores in Puerto Rico, six discount centers and four Sam’s Clubs.
Tablets stolen from Pearl Walmart
PEARL, MS – WLBT reports the Pearl Police Department is asking for help in identifying two suspects accused of stealing several tablets from Walmart.
Police say the thefts happened Monday at approximately 11:44 p.m. The Samsung Galaxy 3 tablets were worth $2,160.
