NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Usher headlines a free concert as part of events leading up to the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

The R&B star will preside over the Allstate Fan Fest, which takes over the Jax Brewery parking lot on Decatur Street on Wednesday, Dec. 30. The concert is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. The event also will be live-streamed on Tidal.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports it’ll be the second time in a matter of weeks that Usher has made a public appearance in New Orleans. He was recently in the city to speak during Amnesty International USA’s one-day “Art For Rights” exhibit, where he talked about social activism.

With his latest visit, he will get the crowd pumped up for when Oklahoma State and Ole Miss meet inside the Superdome on Jan. 1.

The two-day Fan Fest will also feature “football-themed activities,” including a football clinic with Marshall Faulk, a silent auction and information on various foundations and social causes. Also scheduled are:

  • Oklahoma State Pep Rally on Dec. 31 at 1:30 p.m.
  • New Year’s Eve Parade on Dec. 31 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Ole Miss Pep Rally on Dec. 31 at 5:15 p.m

It all wraps up when ESPN broadcasts the game on New Year’s Day at 7:30 p.m.
