Pike County sheriff’s lieutenant indicted in fatal shooting

1a0dbf9MAGNOLIA, Miss. (AP) — A Pike County sheriff’s lieutenant has been arrested after being indicted for manslaughter in a March shooting.

The Enterprise-Journal reports 35-year-old Terry Beadles was booked Wednesday into the Lincoln County Jail in the shooting death of 35-year-old Troy Boyd, of Jayess.

Boyd had allegedly tried to run over Beadles with a four-wheeler when the shooting occurred March 15.

The state Attorney General’s Office, in a news release, said Beadles posted a $10,000 bond and was released pending an initial court appearance. It was not immediately clear Thursday whether Beadles is represented by an attorney.

If convicted of the charge, Beadles faces up to 20 years behind bars.

Pike County Sheriff Mark Shepherd placed Beadles on unpaid leave Wednesday pending resolution of the case.
