Father, son die when rear-ended Jeep flips off I-55 overpass

Car-crash-wreck-accident-police-tape-genericJACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Police in Jackson, Mississippi, say a father and son from Illinois died when their Jeep was rear-ended and flipped over the railing of an Interstate 55 overpass.

Multiple media outlets report that Officer Colundula Green identifies them as 63-year-old Robert Sims and 27-year-old Randall Sims, both of Edwardsville, Illinois.

She says they died at the accident scene Saturday afternoon.

Green says the other driver, 47-year-old Yolanda McNeely of nearby Ridgeland, was arrested on charges of drunken driving and fleeing an accident scene. Police Chief Lee Vance says she crashed at the next exit.

An online inmate docket indicated she was still in jail Sunday. It was not clear whether she had an attorney who could comment.
