Brookhaven police Chief Bobby Bell tells The Associated Press that 31-year-old Jermaine Sims and one of his children died Friday at a Jackson hospital. He was unsure of the child’s age.

He says the shooting happened about 12:20 a.m. Friday.

Bell said Sims and 32-year-old Jimmy Lyons got into a fight at Sims’ home. Bells says he doesn’t know what started the fight.

Also shot were Sims’ 29-year-old wife, Victoria, and their three children — a 6-year-old boy, and two girls, ages 9 and 14. Bell says two children remained in critical condition.

Bell says Lyons faces two counts of murder and three counts of aggravated assault.
