BAY ST. LOUIS, Mississippi (AP) — Three volunteer firefighters in Hancock County have been arrested on allegations of arson.

Hancock County Sheriff’s officials told WLOX TV on Friday that 27-year-old Marie Gill, of Gulfport, faces two counts of arson and one count each of conspiracy to commit arson and tampering with evidence.

Twenty-nine-year-old Korri-Don Jones, of Pearlington, and 39-year-old Leslie Cheramie, of Bay St. Louis, face charges of conspiracy to commit arson and accessory after the fact.

Authorities allege that the three started a marsh fire a week ago in Logtown in the Pearlington community and a marsh fire near the Clermont Harbor Pier in early December.

Gill had recently joined the Kiln Volunteer Fire Department. Jones and Cheramie were with the West Hancock department. Jones is the son of West Hancock fire chief Kim Jones.
