Meridian man dies from extreme cold weather, coroner rules

freeze1jpg-f0da6266c832ffdbMERIDIAN, Mississippi (AP) — A 50-year-old Meridian man has died from the extreme cold.

Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said Friday that Nathaniel Brown was found at his home about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Cobler said the house had no heat.

Cobler says Brown’s core temperature was below 80 degrees when he was found and continued to drop. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Temperatures dropped into the teens Wednesday and Thursday across Mississippi. Temperatures warmed up slightly Friday.
