Car driven by 9-year-old boy crashes in Mississippi, 2 boys killed

Car-crash-wreck-accident-police-tapeFOREST, Mississippi (AP) — Two boys have died in an accident involving a car driven by a 9-year old boy.

WLBT-TV reports that a 13-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy died after the driver tried to avoid a Mississippi Highway Patrol checkpoint on Mississippi 35 about 11:15 p.m. Friday.

A state trooper followed the car, which ran off Old Hillsboro Road and overturned, ejecting the two boys who died. The driver and a 13-year-old girl were both injured and taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Highway Patrol Sgt. Andy West says the driver remains in serious condition, but gave no update on the girl’s condition.

WAPT-TV reports the 13-year-old girl and boy were twins.

Scott County Deputy Coroner Phyllis Irby declined Sunday to release the dead boys’ names.
