The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office will present its first Trunk or Treat event at the Metrocenter Mall.

This free –family friendly–event will take place Friday, Oct. 31 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Center Court (lower level).

Children will have the opportunity to engage in fun filled game activities, view law enforcement vehicles, tour a first class haunted house and enjoy trick or treating in a very safe environment. “One of the reasons we decided to do this is because we wanted to restore the fun in what is one of the biggest candy days in our country,” said Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis. “The criminal element has taken the fun out of this day for our children.”

Children will be treated to face-painting, snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy and so much more…

On the other side of this event, our agency in conjunction with the US Marshall Service and other agencies will take on another operation.

Operation Save Our Children will be in full force Halloween Night. “Our deputies along with other law enforcement agencies will be on the haunt for sexual predators to make sure they are in compliance with state law,” Lewis said. “We want to make sure they are where they are suppose to be,” he added.

These law enforcement officers will be on the lookout for outstanding warrants as well as other varying offenses. “We want to put them on notice that we are coming,” Lewis stated.  “We want a safe day for everyone.”
