HATTIESBURG, Mississippi (AP) — A woman charged with capital murder has pleaded guilty to reduced charges in the 2012 holdup that left a 19-year-old man fatally wounded in his Hattiesburg apartment.
Antonica Magee, 22, of Columbia, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit an armed robbery and to accessory after the fact to capital murder of Wesley Owens, The Hattiesburg American reported.
Court records show Circuit Judge Robert Helfrich sentenced her to 20 years in prison, with five years suspended, on each count. The sentences are to be served at the same time.
Three Hattiesburg men also were charged with capital murder and conspiracy to rob Owens, who was killed December 30, 2012.
Anthony Mitchell is still awaiting trial. Trey Oliver and Eddreon Brister both are in state prisons on sentences for a homicide/murder charge, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections’ website. Oliver is serving 30 years at Walnut Grove Correctional Facility, and Brister is serving 15 years in the Jefferson/Franklin County Correctional Facility.
