Jury finds Oktibbeha County man guilty of shooting ex-girlfriend

3640730_GSTARKVILLE, Mississippi (AP) — An Oktibbeha County man has been convicted of capital murder in the fatal shooting of his former girlfriend in 2008.

Circuit Judge Lee Howard sentenced 53-year-old Archie Quinn to life in prison without parole. A jury on Wednesday found Quinn guilty of the slaying of 35-year-old Stacy Gray in September 2008.

Prosecutors say Quinn shot to death Gray after breaking into the Starkville home she shared with her boyfriend, Terry Johnson. Quinn shot and wounded Johnson before Johnson managed to escape.

Prosecutors say deputies were called to the home after receiving a report of gunshots. The deputies came upon Quinn who got out of his vehicle, walked to the back of it and shot himself in the head.

Quinn recovered from the wound.
