“Over 1,800 people registered to attend our Fall High School, Community College and Transfer Day on Saturday, September 14,” shared Dr. Carl Cunningham, Alcorn’s new vice president for Student Success and Enrollment Management. “During this day the University will have a chance to showcase its academic programs and support services to perspective students and parents.”

Administrators, faculty, staff and students will be available to answer all questions concerning admission, scholarships, financial aid, academic programs, extracurricular activities and residential life.

Registration for the program will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex. Attendees will have a chance to review displays from each academic department, support services and Greek organizations.

“As part of the registration process, our guests will also receive a $5 meal voucher that can be used at any of our concession stands, and a wrist band to attend the Braves vs. Mississippi Valley football game that will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Jacks Spinks – Marino Casem Stadium,” said Admissions Director Katangelia Tenner. “All fans with wrist bands will enter through gate 8.”

At 10:30 a.m. a general assembly presided by Katangelia Tenner will begin followed by greetings by Dr. Carl Cunningham, and welcome by Carmen Gibson, Miss Alcorn State University 2013-14, and Avery Ford, SGA President 2013-14.

During the information session, representatives of Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Residence Life, Health Services, Student Engagement and the Center for Information Technology will share valuable information with perspective students and their parents.

The fun part of the program will include entertainment “Let the Good Time Roll!” by DJ T-Money, Alcorn State University cheerleaders, Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite Marching Band, a Greek Stroll Off, a contemporary dance by an Alcorn student and a special presentation “Temptations” by faculty and staff. Visitors will also have a chance to tour the campus and are encouraged to sign up at the registration table.

Parking Instructions: buses will enter the campus, drop students off at the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex and park in the general parking lot. Individuals will park at the Walter Washington Administration and Classroom Building parking lot. Shuttle busses will be available.

Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Hall will be open 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. for breakfast ($4 special per person for High School Day participants).  Concession stands will open at 12 noon.
