JACKSON – A Hinds County woman is being held without bond after being charged with capital murder in the death of her 1-year-old son. Tiffany Michelle Menifield remains behind bars at the Hinds County Detention Center after appearing in court on Saturday, July 27.

Tiffany Menifield (r) has been charged with capital murder in the death of her son, Tyree (l).

Menfield, 25, who lives in the 600 block of Hampton Circle in Jackson, was charged after her son, Tyree McDonald, died on Sunday, July 18 at UMC Hospital.

According to Hinds County authorities, police responded to the home of Menifield’s boyfriend in the 1500 block of Hair Street, where he and Menifield had called 911 to report that the toddler was unresponsive.

Tyree was transported to UMC where he was pronounced dead by an emergency room physician, the coroner’s office said.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart said an autopsy revealed Tryee died of massive head trauma and skull fractures.

Menifield’s boyfriend has not been charged at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

Funeral services for Tyree are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. at Morning View Baptist Church with a visitation at 12 p.m.

He is survived by his father, Marquis McDonald Sr., a brother and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
