BALDWYN – The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate an early afternoon crash in Lee County that claimed the life of a Baldwyn woman, WCBI reports.

Troopers were dispatched to the Christmas Day crash about 1 p.m., on MS 245, just south of Shannon.

Authorities said it appeared Timothy Autrey, 26, of Baldwyn, was traveling south in a 1997 Ford F-150, when he lost control of the vehicle and overturned.

Autrey, a 2005 graduate of Mooreville High School, was ejected from the vehicle, but received only minor injuries. His wife, Amanda Autrey, 25, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center where she later died from injuries sustained from the crash, WCBI reported.

The couple had been married since July 2007.

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green says Amanda Autry, a 2006 graduate of Shannon High School, died at about 2:30 p.m.

Neither passenger was reportedly wearing a seat belt. Troopers are trying to determine if the truck hydroplaned on the wet road.

The accident marked the fourth fatality in the state during the long holiday travel period. One of those was Sunday in Lowndes County.
