Former hotel manger gets 6 years for credit card fraud

JACKSON – A Jackson woman has been sentenced to serve six years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, said Attorney General Jim Hood.

Keisha Butler, 37, of Jackson, was sentenced by Judge Winston Kidd in Hinds County Circuit Court.

While employed as a manager of a Jackson hotel in 2007, Butler stole a guest’s credit card information and made fraudulent purchases using that card during July, August and December of that year.

She was sentenced to six years in the custody of Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) on each count to be served concurrently, followed by five years of supervised probation. In addition, Butler was ordered to pay court costs, $1,199.39 in restitution to the victims and $1,000 each to the Attorney General’s Investigative Fund and the Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund.
