Four participants complete CSLC/EDGE Job Training Program

Registration still open for second ‘free’ session

LEXINGTON, Miss. – The Community Students Learning Center’s “free” EDGE (Empowering the Delta with a Growing Economy) Job Training Program is providing job marketing skills to interested participants.

Registration is still open for a new session which began Sept. 25.

Four participants have completed the first eight-week training session of the program. A number of other participants either were accepted into college and/or secured employment during the session.

According to CSLC/EDGE Job Training Specialist Kendra Smith, the program helps participants to accomplish the following goals:

• Learn the keys to getting and keeping a job;
• Obtain FREE access to CSLC state-of-the-art computer lab and one-on-one assistance in conducting online job searches;
• Compose and submit resumes, set up an email account, learn how to check and send e-mails and more!

“In essence, we are providing employability skills,” said Smith. “Our participants are also learning how to maintain a high standard of workmanship as well.”

The center is still seeking interested participants for its current eight-week session which began Tuesday, Sept. 25. Training will be held each Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. until Noon. Registration will remain open until further notice. Interested job seekers are encouraged to enroll today. Refreshments will be served.

The CSLC/EDGE Job Training Program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Rural Innovation Fund (RIF). “We are extremely grateful to HUD for helping us to give citizens a leading “edge” in improving their quality of life,” said CSLC Executive Director Beulah Greer. Greer also said CSLC partners with the WIN Job Center in providing this service to the community.
