LEE COUNTY – Authorities are searching for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a Lee County man.
It was around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon when deputies were called to 527 county road 1543 near the Itawamba county line in the Eggville community. Lee county Sheriff Jim Johnson said a 37-year-old man who lived next door in a camper had been shot multiple times and was dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Dale Parker.
Deputies cordoned off the area and began searching for clues.
Johnson said, “This particular individual’s family lived right next door to him, pretty good size family so we have several investigators on the scene. We’re talking to witnesses, people who saw whatever they saw and right now it’s just real preliminary and we don’t want to put out anything else that may hinder the case.”
Johnson said he hopes to have more information on the shooting later in the week.
