PHILADELPHIA – (AP) Philadelphia police said a 3-year-old child died Monday of heat exposure after being left in a car.
Police Chief Richard Sistrunk said autopsy results came in Tuesday and the child’s death was ruled an accident. He says the death will still be investigated.
The name of the victim and the parent are not being released. Sistrunk said the parent rushed the child to the hospital, but doctors could not revive the child.
Sistrunk said all of the findings from the investigation will be submitted to the district attorney.
Sistrunk said it appears the child was accidentally left alone in the vehicle for an extended period.
