Caledonia nurse arrested on drug charges

JACKSON – A Chickasaw County nurse has been arrested on charges involving possession of a controlled substance, Attorney General Jim Hood said.

Vanessa Thompson, 52, of Caledonia, Mississippi turned herself in to the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department after being indicted on four counts of acquiring or obtaining possession of a controlled substance or prescription by misrepresentation or fraud.

At the times the crimes are alleged to have occurred, Thompson was working as an LPN at Shearer Richardson Memorial Nursing Home.

She is alleged in the indictment to have signed out the substances Valium and Lortab under the pretense of providing medical care to her patients, but instead, converted the narcotics to her own use.

Thompson was released on a $20,000 bond.

If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison and up to $4,000 in fines.
