JPS’ superintendent search narrows to 2

JACKSON – The Jackson Public Schools’ Board of Trustees has announced its finalists for superintendent of schools:

• Dr. Dennis L. Carpenter, deputy superintendent for operations for the Newton County, Georgia, school system

• Dr. Cedrick Gray, superintendent of schools for the Fayette County, Tennessee, school system

The finalists were chosen from a pool of 71 applicants and will be in Jackson April 11, 2012, for additional interviews and two events with the community – the first a meeting with the superintendent search Community Advisory Committee and the second a forum with the general public.

The following schedule has been released by the Board of Trustees for the April 11, 2012, visit by the finalists:

Special Board of Trustees Meeting for Executive Session to Interview the Finalists — 1-3 p.m., School Board Meeting Room, 621 South State Street

“Meet and Greet” Meeting with the Community Advisory Committee – 4-5:30 p.m., School Board Meeting Room, 621 South State Street

Public Forum – 6-8 p.m., Galloway Elementary, 186 Idlewild Street
