Man bound over for double murder in Tupelo

TUPELO – A 26-year old man charged with the murder of a Tupelo man and his girlfriend have been bound over to the grand jury. Travon Brown is being held on a $1 million bond for the shooting deaths of 22-year-old Cornelius “Snoop” Harris and Harris’ girlfriend, Felecia Ruffin, 36.

Brown was taken into custody shortly after police arrived at the couple’s residence in the 1100 block of Chapman Street on Sept. 28.

Reportedly, Brown was hiding in the bathtub when police responded to a “shots fired” call and found the bodies of Harris and Ruffin.

Detective Brandon Garrett, of the Tupelo Police Department, said they have no motive in the killings but there were signs of a struggle in the home.

Garrett said Brown had a gunshot wound to the hand and was treated at North Mississippi Medical Center. Pending a trial, Garrett would not say how Brown was injured when he allegedly shot the couple.

Garrett said Brown has no prior felonies in Lee County.
